Wong Kar-wai’s 1994 film CHUNGKING EXPRESS perfectly captures the ambiguity and in-betweenness that was 1990s Hong Kong, as it follows the stories of two cops in search of connection in the global, yet somehow transient city. Chungking Express is the final installment in the spring 2023 edition of the University of Idaho Asian Film Series, presented by the Idaho Asia Institute, the School of Global Studies, and the School of Journalism and Mass Media.
