“Wildly witty, but also inventive, audacious and poignant.”
— Claudia Puig, USA Today
KPAC presents HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH as part of our Celebration of Sound series featuring films with incredible audio to highlight our brand new sound system! A gender-queer punk-rock singer from East Berlin tours the U.S. with her band as she tells her life story and follows the former lover/band-mate who stole her songs. John Cameron Mitchell excels at depicting the complicated ways in which identity, love, and self-acceptance intertwine. His performance in the rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch is both dynamic and poignant, capturing the essence of a transgender punk rock singer’s journey. Don’t miss this iconic queer film, which is also one of the best rock musicals ever made. And yes, we are going to turn it up loud on our brand-new sound system!
