Veterans for Idaho Voters presents a free screening of documentary MAJORITY RULES. With America’s democratic experiment mired in division and dysfunction, the state of Alaska votes to revolutionize their election system. The surprising results spark new alliances, a growing call for election reform, and fierce pushback from political parties. Could changing how Americans vote also change politics for the better?

Idaho’s Proposition 1 (Open Primaries Initiative) is modeled after Alaska’s successful initiative, and the documentary film MajorityRules follows Alaska’s process from its precedent-setting vote to revolutionize its divisive and dysfunctional system. The results were surprising, with the forming of new alliances, a growing call for election reform, and fierce pushback from political parties.  Note the plural there.

The film answers two very pressing questions:
1)  How did the American electoral system become so dysfunctional?
2)  Can changes to how we vote change the entire system for the better?
