Science on Screen: Stand by Me

Wednesday, February 12 at 7 PM

KPAC presents STAND BY ME as part of our Science on Screen® series, showcasing films with introductions by notable figures from the world of science, technology, and medicine. A writer recounts a childhood journey with his friends to find the body of a missing boy. Stand By Me is a wise, nostalgic movie with a weird streak that captures both Stephen King’s voice and the trials of growing up.
NOSTALGIC FOR FRIENDSHIP
Nicole O’Donnell, Assistant Professor in the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, will introduce the film with a discussion on nostalgia, the reminiscence bump, and how Stand By Me illustrates the enduring impact of childhood friendships.
An initiative of the COOLIDGE CORNER THEATRE, with major support from the ALFRED P. SLOAN FOUNDATION.
