Science on Screen: The Truman Show

Wednesday, January 8 at 7 PM

KPAC presents THE TRUMAN SHOW as part of our Science on Screen® series, showcasing films with introductions by notable figures from the world of science, technology, and medicine. An insurance salesman begins to suspect that his whole life is actually some sort of reality TV show. A funny, tender, and thought-provoking film, The Truman Show is all the more noteworthy for its remarkably prescient vision of runaway celebrity culture and a nation with an insatiable thirst for the private details of ordinary lives.
Selling Yourself as Reality Star
Dr. Cieslik-Miskimen, an Assistant Professor in the School of Journalism and Media at the University of Idaho, will introduce the film with a discussion about media surveillance, capitalism, and the prescient realities of The Truman Show.
An initiative of the COOLIDGE CORNER THEATRE, with major support from the ALFRED P. SLOAN FOUNDATION.
